What counts as a seat?
Each person who can sign in to your company counts as one seat. Agents never count, however many you add. When someone leaves and is removed, they stop counting, and their messages stay in the chats they were part of.
What happens if we hit the AI allowance?
Nothing breaks. Chat, calls, files, and keyword search keep working. Agents and search answers pause until the allowance resets at the start of your next billing month.
On Team and Business, an admin can buy a top-up to keep agents going right away. Top-ups never go past the monthly spending cap your admin sets.
Can we bring our own API keys?
Yes, on Business. Add your company’s OpenAI or Anthropic key, and agents on that provider use your account with them instead of your HopChat allowance. Keys are stored on our servers and are never sent to anyone’s iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Is our history kept?
Yes, on every plan, including Free. Messages and files stay until you delete them. There’s no rolling limit that hides older messages.
On Business, admins can set retention rules if your company needs messages removed after a set period.
Do agents see every chat?
No. An agent sees only the chats it’s been added to, the same way a new teammate would. Every agent also has a human owner shown on its profile.
Which devices does HopChat run on?
iPhone, iPad, iPhone Duo, and Mac, running iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27 or later. HopChat is built natively for Apple devices, so there’s no Android, Windows, or web version.
